Three-day wine festival on Herringer Marktplatz from July 3rd to 5th, 2026, featuring three German vintners and a family program on Sunday.
The Winzerfest am Herringer Markt is one of the most charming specialties of the Hamm district of Herringen — a Westphalian mining area meets Rhenish Hesse/Pfalz wine culture. The organizer is the Herringer Interessengemeinschaft e.V. (HIG), an association of local traders and business people who organize the wine festival annually at the beginning of July. Three German vintners travel to Hamm and serve their wines at Herringer Marktplatz for three days.
Herringer Marktplatz in the center of the district becomes a small wine tasting stage. The stalls of the three vintners are loosely arranged, standing tables and some seating make lingering easy. The HIG members provide food — cheese platters, tarte flambée, farmer's bread with lard or minced meat, grilled specialties. A Wine Queen (often from one of the three growing regions) accompanies the festival with guided tastings.
Herringen is located in the north of Hamm, a major city in the Westphalian Hellweg region (North Rhine-Westphalia, independent city). It is classically a mining and industrial region, without its own wine-growing area. The Winzerfest thus brings a piece of Rhenish Hesse or Palatinate wine culture to the Ruhr area's foreland — and creates a different festival format than the dominant beer and Schützenfest (marksmen's festival) in Westphalia. For three days, Herringen celebrates its wine.
Those wishing to arrive with friends or as a club can reserve a table: 160 Euros for 8 people — an attractive offer that covers all wine and food provisions for the evening. Contact: HIG at 02381 379600 or via the homepage herringen.info.
While Friday and Saturday are dominated by the classic wine festival format (wine tasting, food, live music in the evening), Sunday from 12 PM to 6 PM opens with a family program: children's activities, small games, culinary offerings. This makes the Winzerfest a district festival for all generations — and a fixed date in Hamm's festival calendar.
Hamm-Herringen is located in the west of the city of Hamm — about 5 kilometers from the main train station. By public transport: Bus line 4 or 13 from Hamm Hbf to Herringen Markt. By car: A 2 exit Hamm-Bockum, direction Herringen. Parking available in adjacent streets.
The Winzerfest 2026 in Hamm-Herringen offers a wine experience in the Westphalian context for three days. Three German vintners will serve their wines directly at Herringer Marktplatz — the exact wineries will be confirmed shortly before the festival, traditionally they come from the Mosel, Rhenish Hesse, or Palatinate growing regions.
Friday and Saturday bring the classic wine festival format with wine tasting, food, and live music. On Sunday, from 12 PM to 6 PM, there will be a family program — children's activities will complement the offerings, and the festival will open up to the district. Tables for groups (8 people) can be reserved for 160 Euros.
