Palatinate's up-and-coming winemakers present their wines in the Spiegelpalast on Experience Sunday
The Young Winemakers' Matinée is one of the most forward-looking events of the German Grape Harvest Festival 2026. It offers a rare and concentrated opportunity to get to know the new generation of the Palatinate wine scene — young winemakers who are setting trends with innovative approaches, bold vinification experiments, and new interpretations of vineyard sites.
The Matinée takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Spiegelpalast "Bon Vivant" on Hetzelplatz in Neustadt. The elegant Spiegelpalast — the same venue as for the Sparkling Wine Day the previous day — provides a stylish, intimate setting for this wine experience encounter.
The Palatinate's young winemakers scene is one of the most dynamic in Germany. Many of these young producers have studied in Geisenheim, Heilbronn, or abroad, bringing international experience and experimenting with topics such as biodynamic viticulture, unusual grape combinations, long maceration periods, natural winemaking, or the revival of historic Palatinate vineyard sites. Their wines are often edgy, precise, and strong in identity — the present and future of Palatinate wine culture.
The Matinée coincides with the city of Neustadt's 2nd Experience Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the city center — shops open, market activity, and a festive atmosphere. Those who want to spend a full Sunday in Neustadt can start the morning with a guided tour of the old town or a visit to the Palatinate Winemakers' Village (Haiselscher), dedicate the afternoon to the Young Winemakers' Matinée, and stroll through the city center in the late afternoon.
The ticket for €14/person grants access to the tasting. This moderate pricing — lower than for the Coronation Gala or the Sparkling Wine Day — makes the Matinée particularly accessible for young wine lovers and newcomers to the Palatinate wine scene.
The 2026 edition of the Young Winemakers' Matinée continues the concept of showcasing the future of Palatinate wine. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The event is part of the rich Palatinate festival culture, which attracts thousands of visitors to the Neustadt an der Weinstraße region every year. The combination of wine culture, Palatinate hospitality, and established festival traditions forms the unmistakable identity of this Palatinate festival institution.
