Premiere 2026: An eleven-day wine market along the Cologne Rhine bank between Kap686 and Rodenkirchen – Free admission.
From July 16 to 26, 2026, the first-ever "Weinmarkt am Kölner Rheinufer" will take place. Stretching from the "Kap686" skate plaza at the Rheinauhafen towards Rodenkirchen, winemakers from Germany's top wine regions and neighboring EU countries will showcase their diverse selections.
In addition to red, rosé, and white wines, exhibitors will offer sparkling wines, Seccos, grape juices, wine-based cocktails, and a selection of spirits.
The food menu features grilled specialties from the famous "Grillkutsche," tarte flambée, delicious open-faced sandwiches, and local delicacies.
For a cozy atmosphere, guests can enjoy their drinks at standing tables near the stalls or relax at tables and benches under the iconic pagoda tents, which provide shelter from both light rain and direct sunlight.
The wait is finally over: on July 16, 2026, the "Weinmarkt am Kölner Rheinufer" celebrates its grand premiere! For eleven glorious days, the most popular wine regions from Germany and neighboring EU countries will present their finest offerings along the Rhine, stretching from the "Kap686" skate plaza behind the Rheinauhafen towards Rodenkirchen. The portfolio includes white, rosé, and red wines, as well as sparkling wine, Secco, and grape juices—many of which are also available in non-alcoholic versions.
The culinary offerings are complemented by grilled specialties, tarte flambée, traditional sandwiches (including lard and liver sausage), onion cake, and regional favorites. Those looking for a digestif or a specialty coffee to round off their visit will certainly find what they are looking for.
"We are thrilled to add another summer highlight to what is famously known as the northernmost city in Italy with our new wine market on the Cologne Agrippinaufer, located between Kap686 and Schönhauser Straße," says organizer Joseph Nieke.
A special highlight of the premiere is the debut of the "IMI Winery" at a Joseph Nieke UG event. The "IMI Winery" is a fascinating concept: it is the first "urban winery" in a major German city, located in the heart of Cologne-Ehrenfeld. The organic grapes are sourced from the Palatinate and vinified in the heart of the cathedral city. The bottles themselves are unique, featuring Cologne street art on the labels. All wines are organic and reasonably priced. The team at "IMI Winery" also offers wine tastings at their shop. For 49,00 €, you can sample five wines paired with Austrian specialties like mountain cheese and Kaminwurzen. On special occasions, they host a "Straußwirtschaft" with "Wine, Beats & Good Vibes" and free admission—the next one is on July 11, 2026, five days before the "Weinmarkt am Kölner Rheinufer." For more information and dates for tastings and the Straußwirtschaft, visit www.imi-winery.de.
The inaugural "Weinmarkt am Kölner Rheinufer" takes place from July 16 to 26, 2026.
Opening hours:
Monday to Friday: 2 PM – 10 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 12 PM – 10 PM
July 26, 2026: 12 PM – 6 PM
