73rd edition of the Remagen Wine Festival with Ahr and Middle Rhine wines on the market square
The Remagen Wine Festival boasts an unusually long tradition. For 73 years, it has been celebrated on the third weekend of September in the town's market square, making it one of the oldest wine festivals on the Middle Rhine. This continuity has fostered a loyal following from across the Rhine-Ahr region, with attendees visiting the festival for generations.
Remagen's geographical location is quite interesting: the Ahr Valley, known for its Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), lies to the west, while the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage site, famous for its mineral-rich Rieslings, stretches to the east. The wine festival reflects this dual orientation, bringing together winemakers from both cultivation areas in the market square. Federweißer, the freshly fermenting must of the current vintage, is traditionally part of the September offerings.
Bratwurst, Flammkuchen, Reibekuchen (potato pancakes), Zwiebelkuchen (onion tart), and other autumnal specialties make the festival a culinary experience as well. The compact size of the market square ensures short distances and a familiar atmosphere – a distinctly different setting compared to the large wine weeks in Ahrweiler or festivals along the Ahr River.
A souvenir glass is offered for €3 and also serves as the serving glass. The festival is organized by the association Remagen mag ich e.V., which supports the local community with numerous activities and events throughout the year. Admission is free.
The program follows the proven concept of past decades. Local music groups will provide entertainment during the festival days; the market square will be car-free throughout the weekend.
The complete stage and band program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
