Zahrensen — Heath Village in Schneverdingen

Zahrensen is one of the districts of Schneverdingen in the Heidekreis district. The small heath village is located in the middle of the Lüneburger Heide and is surrounded by heathland, juniper stands, and pine forests. The village community cultivates a lively club life with its own marksmen's club, its own festival traditions, and its own annual calendar.

Schützenverein Zahrensen e.V.

The Schützenverein Zahrensen e.V. is the central institution of village life. Several generations are active in the club, and the clubhouse serves as a meeting point and festival venue. The annual Schützenfest is the highlight of the club year and shapes social life for a weekend.

Festival Weekend

The festival weekend follows the traditional structure: King's shooting on the day before, festival parade on Saturday, king's proclamation and king's ball on Saturday evening, family program and Frühschoppen (morning pint) on Sunday. Live music in the festival tent, snack stands, and carousels complement the program. The intimate atmosphere of the small heath village makes the festival particularly family-friendly.

Festival Parade

The festival parade on Saturday afternoon leads through the village center of Zahrensen. Marksmen's companies in uniform, friendly clubs from Schneverdingen's districts, pipe bands, and music groups march from the Schützenplatz (marksmen's square) through the village. The close relationship with the other Schneverdingen clubs is evident here.

King's Ball

On Saturday evening, the King's Ball is celebrated in the festival tent. The new Schützenkönig (marksmen's king) is proclaimed, honored, and awarded the king's chain. Live music accompanies the festivities late into the night.
