Premiere of the volunteer festival Wildeshausen Engages on April 26, 2026 — Clubs, initiatives, and social projects present themselves in the city center
Wildeshausen Engages — EhrenamtLive is one of the new summer projects of Stadtmarketing Wildeshausen. The premiere on Sunday, April 26, 2026, makes voluntary engagement visible: between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., clubs, citizens' initiatives, social projects, and associations will present their work on the market square, Hunte, Westerstraße, and the forecourt of the UZW shopping center.
The format combines information stands with hands-on activities, creating an accessible encounter between citizens and volunteers. The premiere is organized by Stadtmarketing Wildeshausen together with the local volunteer agency mischMIT!. Free admission.
Hundreds of clubs, initiatives, and social projects are active in Wildeshausen and the district of Oldenburg. They sustain club life, organize Schützenfeste (shooting festivals), support youth, seniors, or refugees, act as fire brigades and rescue services, or shape culture and sports. Wildeshausen Engages makes this diversity visible in one day — as a festival, a market of opportunities, and an invitation to get involved yourself.
The event takes place in four areas of the city center: the central market square as the main stage with welcome and program, the Hunte and Westerstraße as stand streets, and the forecourt of the UZW shopping center as a family zone. The spatial distribution creates a strolling character and avoids concentration on a single point.
Two organizations are behind EhrenamtLive: Stadtmarketing Wildeshausen, which provides the spatial and communication infrastructure, and the volunteer agency mischMIT!, which has built up the network of active individuals over the years. mischMIT! is the central point of contact between those seeking volunteer opportunities and engagement possibilities in and around Wildeshausen.
The 2026 event is the first of its kind in Wildeshausen. Similar volunteer festivals in other Lower Saxony cities, some of which have become annual traditions, served as models. Whether Wildeshausen Engages also becomes a regular event depends on the success of the premiere — the organizers are confident that the city center will see a large audience on April 26, 2026.

The event is designed as a market of opportunities: stands present the fields of activity of the participating clubs, and hands-on activities provide a direct impression of the respective work. A broad spectrum is expected, from the shooting club to the volunteer fire brigade, from initiatives for refugees to sports clubs and cultural organizations.
The use of the central city center underscores the social importance of volunteering — its central location makes it easy to visit the EhrenamtLive stations after a Sunday stroll through town.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Wildeshausen clubs, initiatives, social welfare organizations, church groups, sports clubs, fire departments, and educational institutions are expected. The complete list will be published in April 2026 on wildeshausen.de.
Free admission. Consumption at the on-site food stands.
