Wietzendorf Easter Bonfire
The Easter Bonfire in Wietzendorf has been a firm fixture in the village calendar for generations. Wietzendorf is located in the Heidekreis district, south of Soltau, and is characterized by its heathland and farming village heritage. The Easter Bonfire is organized on the community's festival grounds, offering ample space for the large woodpile and numerous visitors.
Easter Egg Hunt for Children
The evening begins at 6:30 PM with an Easter egg hunt for the local children. Hidden chocolate Easter eggs and small sweets await the young seekers. Helpers from the Schützengilde and the DRK will accompany the activity and ensure a smooth process.
Lighting the Fire
Around 7 PM – at dusk – the Easter Bonfire is lit. The woodpile, several meters high, burns for several hours, illuminating the festival grounds. The flames are visible from afar. Visitors gather around the fire, enjoying the warmth and the unique atmosphere.
Catering by Schützengilde and DRK
The Schützengilde of the Wietzendorf parish and the Wietzendorf German Red Cross jointly provide catering. Bratwurst, fries, mulled wine, beer, soft drinks, and children's punch are offered. The proceeds benefit the associations' activities and the DRK.
Tradition and Village Community
The Easter Bonfire is more than a custom – it is an expression of the village community. Residents of all generations meet, conversations are held, and the long winter months are symbolically bid farewell. Many visitors from outside the Heidekreis also attend the Wietzendorf Easter Bonfire for its authentic atmosphere.
