30 Years of Wierener Dorffest

The Wierener Dorffest has been a firm fixture in the event calendar of the Heide village of Wieren for three decades. In 2026, the festival celebrates its 30th edition, demonstrating impressive continuity in village festival culture. The organizer is the Dorfgemeinschaft Wieren e.V., which brings the festival to life year after year through its volunteer commitment.

Last Saturday in August

Traditionally, the festival takes place on the last Saturday in August – in 2026, this will be August 29. This fixed date in the calendar makes it easy for residents to keep it free. Generations know: the last Saturday in August is Dorffest in Wieren.

Afternoon: Children's Games and Coffee and Cake

The afternoon is designed to be family-friendly:

• Children's games: traditional game stations, toys, bouncy castle, hands-on activities
• Coffee and cake reception: homemade cakes and pastries, and coffee – usually a rich selection, donated by residents
• Opportunity to linger and chat

Dance Performances by TuS Wieren

A highlight is the performance by the dance groups of TuS Wieren (Turn- und Sportverein - Gymnastics and Sports Club) on the show stage. Various age groups – from the youngest to adult dancers – present rehearsed choreographies. It is a proud moment for the athletes and their families, and the audience applauds enthusiastically.

Evening: Dancing, Beer, and Wine in the Marquee

The atmosphere changes in the evening. Dancing is offered in the festival marquee – usually a mix of traditional dance music, Schlager hits, and current chart-toppers. Beer and wine flow, the bar is lively, and the dance floor fills up. The village community stays together late into the night.

Festival Location: Fire Station and Village Community Center

The venues are the old fire station (formerly the fire department) and the village community center Wieren. Both buildings, along with the surrounding area, form the festival grounds. A proven setup with enough space for the stage, festival marquee, coffee and cake reception, and play area.

Wieren as a Heide Village

Wieren is a district of the municipality of Wrestedt in the Samtgemeinde Aue, in the southern Uelzen district – a typical Heide village with established structures, brick houses, and a close-knit community. The annual village festival is more than just an event – it is an expression of lived community, uniting residents of all generations.
