High-level beach volleyball and festival atmosphere in the tent on the North Beach
The White Sands Festival on Norderney is more than just a beach volleyball tournament. It combines high-class sport with a festival setting that creates an atmosphere far beyond the sidelines. The venue is the Nordstrand Janusskopf, one of the island's most extensive beach sections, which is transformed into a dense event arena for three days.
Sportingly, the focus is on the 2nd German Beach Tour of the DVV and the Urlaubsguru Beach Cup. Top national female and male players compete for points and prize money. The Northwest German Volleyball Association (NWVV) and the German Volleyball Association (DVV) are involved as sporting partners. Spectators can follow the games from the grandstand overlooking the center court and playing fields.
Parallel to the sport, the Festival Tent offers a stage program with national and international DJs. A Beach Club provides a lounge atmosphere directly on the beach, and the Wine Lounge offers curated wines and cocktails. The event thus becomes an event format that appeals equally to sports enthusiasts, festival-goers, and holidaymakers.
With a capacity of around 3,000 spectators, the White Sands Festival is one of the largest regularly held sporting events on the island. It shapes Norderney's tourist image as a sporty, vibrant North Sea destination and marks the start of the season for many regular guests.
The combination of the sports event and the festival tent, as well as the involvement of DVV and NWVV, is confirmed. According to the event announcement, the musical lineup with the performing DJs is described as "top-class"; the exact names will be published in spring 2026. In its preview for 2026, the NWVV announced the festival's return with an expanded beach club and wine lounge.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/May 2026. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
