Traditional autumn market with Sunday shopping in Bahnhofstraße in the Kirchweyhe district of Weyhe
The municipality of Weyhe consists of several districts, of which Kirchweyhe is the most historically and ecclesiastically significant. The Romanesque St. Marien Church, the old farmsteads along the main street, and the Kirchweyhe train station (S1 suburban train from Bremen) form the established center. Bahnhofstraße is the central shopping street of the district and a natural location for the autumn market.
The Weyher Herbstmarkt combines market stalls from local and regional vendors with Sunday shopping offered by local retailers. You can find autumnal decorations, regional foods, cheese, sausages, honey, jams, handicrafts, leather goods, toys, and clothing. Local bands, dance groups, and clubs perform on two smaller stages or in open spaces.
Catering is provided by local restaurants and bakeries as well as by clubs and food truck operators. Typical autumn specialties such as potato pancakes with apple sauce, Federweißer (new wine), and onion cake are available, as are bratwurst, crêpes, international snacks, and mulled wine. Various clubs offer coffee and cake in the community center or directly at the roadside.
For children, there are carousels, a miniature railway, sometimes a bouncy castle, as well as craft and face-painting stands. The market is designed to be family-friendly and easy to explore on foot. Since Kirchweyhe is directly connected to the Bremen S1 suburban train line, the market is easily accessible even without a car. The weather plays a significant role: in dry late autumn weather, the market regularly attracts several thousand visitors.
The Weyher Gewerbering uses the autumn market, together with local retailers and restaurateurs, to commercially and communally usher in the start of the pre-Christmas season. Many shops attract visitors with special offers and small gifts, local clubs present their work, and local bands or dance groups provide the atmosphere.
The market is free to enter and generally accessible with limited mobility. In case of rain, some activities are moved to sheltered areas.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the autumn. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Program changes and current announcements will be communicated via the website of the municipality of Weyhe and notices in local shops.
