75th Westricher Fastnachtsumzug on February 17, 2026 in Ramstein – the largest carnival parade in the Westpfalz region with 96 entries and 14,000 visitors.
The Westricher Fastnachtsumzug Ramstein-Miesenbach has been the largest carnival parade in the Westpfalz region for decades and is the highlight of the carnival season between Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl, and Bruchmühlbach-Miesau. On Shrove Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the 75th edition will take place – a significant anniversary that honors the long tradition of Westrich carnival.
Starting at 2 PM, the parade will begin its route in August-Süßdorf-Straße. 96 entries, including carnival floats, walking groups, guards, music bands, and show groups, will parade through the city center. Around 1,500 participants are involved in total, including numerous clubs from the entire Westrich region and beyond.
Among the regular participants are the KV Bruchkatze from the Bruchmühlbach region, the Carneval-Unterhaltungs-Verein (CUV) Landstuhl, the UV Bruchmühlbach, and the music corps of the USAFE from the nearby Ramstein Air Base. The participation of the US armed forces lends the parade its special German-American character.
The Westricher Fastnachtsumzug attracts around 14,000 visitors to Ramstein-Miesenbach annually. The streets along the parade route are densely packed, flags wave, confetti flies, and "Helau" echoes through the city center. For the first time in 2026, flyers with safety instructions will be distributed; the city has enhanced the security concept for the anniversary edition.
Parallel to the parade, the market square hosts a carnival market with food stalls, mulled wine, beer, and live music. Even after the parade, clubs, families, and guests celebrate the end of the carnival season here.
With its 75th edition, the Westricher Fastnachtsumzug honors the history of carnival in the region. What began as a small post-war tradition has grown into a major event over the decades, shaping the identity of the twin town of Westpfalz and bringing together generations of participants.
With its 75th edition in 2026, the Westricher Fastnachtsumzug reaches a historic milestone. Three-quarters of a century of Westpfalz carnival, German-American encounters, and club life converge on a Tuesday afternoon in Ramstein.
