Anniversary edition of the traditional wine festival in the Westhofen Kellergasse
The Westhofener TraubenblĂĽtenfest is one of the oldest wine festivals in Rheinhessen. With its 75th edition in 2026, its tradition dates back to 1952. The organizer is the Heimatverein Westhofen e.V., which organizes the event in close cooperation with wine-growing families, associations, and the local municipality.
The venue is the historic Kellergasse of Westhofen. Here, the wine cellars of the Westhofen wine-growing families line up – an architectural and oenological ensemble that is rarely found in this concentration anywhere in Germany. During the festival, the vintners open their cellars, serve wine, present their vintages, and offer insights into their work.
The traditional date – 14 days after Pentecost – falls in 2026 on the weekend of June 4th to 8th. Thus, the festival always takes place during the grape blossom phase, which marks a particularly critical and beautiful moment in viticulture: the vines are blooming, a delicate aroma hangs over the vineyards, and the vintage slowly begins to take shape.
For the 75th anniversary, the Heimatverein has put together a particularly packed programme. Thursday: Wine tasting and special exhibition "75 Years of the Grape Blossom Festival". Friday: Crowning of the new royalty and festive opening. Saturday: Tour of the wine cellars. Sunday: Festive church service, FrĂĽhschoppen (morning pint), and parade. Monday: Parade with awards ceremony.
The Heimatverein Westhofen e.V. has been responsible for the festival for decades. With over 100 volunteers, the entire festival operation is organized – from setup and dismantling to catering and the artistic design of the parade. This makes the Grape Blossom Festival also a showcase for the vibrant club life of the Wonnegau region.
The 75th Westhofen Grape Blossom Festival takes place from Thursday, June 4th, to Monday, June 8th, 2026, in the Westhofen Kellergasse. The organizer is the Heimatverein Westhofen e.V.
For the anniversary edition, a special exhibition "75 Years of the Grape Blossom Festival" is planned for Thursday.
