Season programme of the world's largest bird park with flying displays, themed weekends, Easter, Halloween, and gourmet evenings
Founded in 1962, the Weltvogelpark Walsrode is now home to over a thousand bird species from all continents – from penguins and pelicans to birds of prey and parrots, as well as rare large animals like the Andean condor. With an area of 24 hectares and naturalistic aviaries, it is the largest bird park in the world. Walsrode is located in the Heidekreis district, easily accessible via the A27/A7 route between Bremen and Hanover.
The 2026 season starts on Saturday, March 14th, and runs until Sunday, November 1st. The park is closed on March 7th and 8th (preparation phase). During the season, the park is open daily. Outside the season, only selected winter days – including Christmas and New Year's Eve – are open as special days.
The heart of the park experience are the flying displays in the large flying arena. They take place daily at 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM and showcase birds of prey, owls, parrots, and other flying species in free flight. Experienced falconers comment on the demonstrations with background information on behaviour, biology, and conservation.
Numerous themed events take place throughout the season. Spring and Easter programme with egg hunts and Easter Bunny activities in April. Asparagus Walk in May – a guided tour with culinary asparagus offerings. Buffet breakfast on several Sundays. Burger Gourmet Evening in summer – an evening event with burgers and drinks in the park. Barbecue Buffet from July onwards. Lantern Walk on a late summer evening. Big Halloween Weekend at the end of October with pumpkins, costumes, and spooky stories.
Those who wish to visit the park regularly benefit from the season ticket. Until March 29th, 2026, season tickets are 20 percent cheaper than the regular price. The offer is particularly worthwhile for families from the region who want to visit the park several times a year.
The park is open daily throughout the season. The main season runs from April to October and is characterized by many themed events. March serves as a gentle season start, focusing on the park experience without additional events.
The themed events are announced in detail by the park on its website. Based on experience, the culinary evening events – Burger Gourmet Evening, Barbecue Buffet, Lantern Walk – sell out quickly. Early booking is recommended.
