Wine and Art – A Rheinhessen Synthesis

The connection between wine and art has a tradition in Rheinhessen. Many wineries integrate art into their architecture, their labels, or their events. Artists, in turn, are often inspired by the Rheinhessen landscape and wine culture. The WEINzigARTiges – Wine Meets Art format makes this connection visible and tangible: on one Sunday, Saulheim's wineries open as temporary galleries, where wine and art stand equally side by side.

A Day in Nieder-Saulheim

The event takes place in 2026 in the Nieder-Saulheim district of Saulheim, begins at 11:30 AM, and extends throughout the entire Sunday. The participating wineries open their doors, present their wines, and make their spaces available for art exhibitions. Visitors can stroll from courtyard to courtyard with an admission wristband and experience both the wines and the exhibited artworks at each winery. Many artists are personally present and engage in conversations with guests.

Participating Artists

The selection of exhibiting artists is made by the organizers and focuses on regional and supra-regional artists from Rheinhessen, the Palatinate, and the Rhine-Main area. Various disciplines are represented: painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, jewelry, textile art, and increasingly, light installations or digital art. The mix of different disciplines ensures that every visitor finds something that touches them.

Wines, Food, and Atmosphere

Parallel to the art, the wines of Saulheim's vintners are the focus. Dry Rieslings, Silvaner, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and rosé wines are served in the courtyards, complemented by small dishes such as cheese platters, bread with spreads, and regional specialties. The atmosphere is relaxed and elegant – not a mass festival, but a conscious day of enjoyment for lovers of wine and art.
