Seasonal wine and sparkling wine stand directly on the Moselle riverbank, May to October
Riol is located directly on the right bank of the Moselle between Schweich and Mehring, nestled in the slate hills of the Middle Moselle. The wine stand on the Moselle riverbank is a classic seasonal Moselle establishment: an open pavilion with a wine bar, seating by the water, and a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're on the Moselle Cycle Path, the Moselle Trail, or traveling by car, you'll find an uncomplicated stop here.
The glasses will feature wines from various Riol vintners. Participation rotates throughout the season – each participating winery presents itself for a few weekends and can showcase its wines directly at the stand. This format simultaneously serves as advertising for the small Riol producers and offers a diverse selection for regular guests who visit frequently.
The focus is on Riesling, sparkling wine, and smaller Moselle classics. The menu includes dry and off-dry Rieslings, sparkling wines made from Riesling and Pinot varieties, as well as seasonal specialties like 'Federweißer' (young wine) in autumn. Small snacks (bread, cheese, sausage, cake on weekends) round off the offering – the stand is designed as a place to linger, not as a full restaurant.
The stand functions as an informal tourist information point for Riol: information about Riol's wineries, restaurants, and cafés, walks in the vineyards, and Moselle Trail routes are gladly shared. This makes the wine stand a good starting point for those who want to get to know Riol better.
The 2026 season continues the proven format. The Riol vintners organize the staffing of the stand on a weekly rotation themselves. Current opening hours will be communicated via notices at the stand and on the website of the local community of Riol.
The stand typically opens on weekends from late afternoon, and on special days (Pentecost, Corpus Christi, May Day) also during the day.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
