Wine meets indulgence
The Weinkulinaria is a young format: launched in 2023, it has quickly established itself as a charming summer meeting point for Leingarten's wine and culinary scene. The concept is clear: the five wineries producing in Leingarten jointly open their tasting tables in the town center — not a wine festival in a marquee, but an open indulgence weekend right in the heart of the town, where the winemakers themselves serve the wine.
The five Leingarten wineries
The participating estates are:
- Heuchelberg Weingärtner — the large cooperative headquartered in Leingarten-Schluchtern, one of the most significant Württemberg wineries
- Christian Hirsch Weine — family business focusing on Trollinger and Lemberger
- Weingut Anita Landesvatter — women-led business with a classic Württemberg grape spectrum
- BioWeingut-WeinReuter — organically certified estate
- Weingut Unser — small family estate with an experimental program
Culinary pairings
The festival offers carefully matched dishes to accompany the wines — from a hearty Maultaschen stew for a robust Trollinger to Flammkuchen with Riesling and chocolate variations with late-harvest sweet wines. The program is complemented by a live music stage featuring regional bands and singers, providing the weekend's soundtrack.
Leingarten and the Heuchelberg
Leingarten is located in the Heilbronn district of Baden-Württemberg, directly at the transition to the Heuchelberg — one of Württemberg's defining wine-growing ridges. The town was formed in 1970 from the merger of Großgartach and Schluchtern and has always had a strong winemaking tradition. One of Württemberg's most important cooperatives, Heuchelberg Weingärtner, is based in Schluchtern. The Weinkulinaria is an expression of this deep-rooted wine culture — and at the same time an initiative that unites small winemakers and large cooperatives on an equal footing.
Atmosphere
Anyone entering the Leingarten town center on a Friday or Saturday evening will find an atmosphere somewhere between a village wine festival and an urban street food event: long tables, beer garden vibes, winemakers engaging in personal conversations, local bands on stage. Sunday is more family-friendly, with a traditional and well-attended morning pint (Frühschoppen).
