53rd Weinkirmes Oberfell

Oberfell is a small Mosel community in the Verbandsgemeinde Untermosel in the district of Mayen-Koblenz with around 1,300 inhabitants. Located on the right bank of the Moselle, between Hatzenport and Brodenbach, Oberfell is one of the wine-growing communities of the Untermosel. The Weinkirmes, which takes place for the 53rd time in 2026, is the central social event of the village.

The festival in 2026 falls on the first weekend of September, from September 5th to 7th. The long opening hours show its character as a full-fledged kirmes: Saturday celebrations go until 3 AM, Sunday is family day from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and the kirmes winds down on Monday until 11 PM. This typical Rhenish wine kirmes structure differs from a pure wine festival through its marquee format and the distinct late-night party component on Saturday.

The focus is on the Mosel wines from Oberfell vintners and other Untermosel producers. Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Elbling, and Spätburgunder thrive on the steep slate slopes around Oberfell and in neighboring communities. The wines are characteristically mineral and fruity.

A Weinkirmes combines traditional wine festival character (wine stands of local vintners, tasting offers, wine queens) with classic kirmes fun (marquee with live music, stage, food stalls, beer stands with additional beer offerings). The festival grounds on Schulstraße in Oberfell become the venue. The festival is typically accompanied by cover bands or party bands playing a mix of Schlager, rock, party, and dance music – a program that brings together a mixed festival audience from young to old.

Sunday (10:30 AM–8:30 PM) is designed as a family day: early morning drinks (Frühschoppen), lunch, quieter live acts in the afternoon, and activities for children. Monday (11 AM–11 PM) is the traditional closing day with Frühschoppen, a more relaxed festival atmosphere, and a cozy end to the event.
