Terrace wine tasting of the Wallhausen wineries and Red Wine Friends on Wallhäuser Allee
The terrace wine tasting in Wallhausen is one of the charming summer events in this Nahe wine village. The event is organized by the Wallhäuser Weintreff in cooperation with the local wineries and the Rotweinfreunde Wallhausen (Red Wine Friends). The venue is the Wallhäuser Allee – the picturesque main axis through the village – along which a series of tasting stations are lined up on this Saturday morning.
The stalls open at eleven o'clock. Current vintages from the Wallhausen wineries will be served, with a special focus on the red wines that have a firm place in the vineyards around Wallhausen. Small dishes, regional specialties, and the relaxed atmosphere of the wine village make the day a delightful weekend highlight.
Wallhausen is a small municipality in the Bad Kreuznach district with just over 1,800 inhabitants. Despite its manageable size, the village has a pronounced winegrowing tradition with several established wineries. The vineyards stretch across the slopes above the village – fertile soils, good sun exposure, mild day-night temperature fluctuations. Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris dominate, but Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, and red wine cuvées also have a firm place in Wallhausen.
The Rotweinfreunde are an initiative within the Wallhausen winemaking community that focuses on red wine. Through joint tastings, comparisons, and promotional activities, they highlight the red wine selection of the Wallhausen winemakers. The terrace wine tasting is one of the opportunities to experience the full spectrum of Wallhausen's wine mosaic – with a focus on red wine.
The terrace wine tasting is an open format: stalls are set up at several stations along the Wallhäuser Allee. Each winery presents a selection of its wines, and visitors can wander from station to station at their own pace to taste. Tasting glasses are usually provided for a deposit. Food is offered with small dishes, wine spritzers, and non-alcoholic drinks.
The Wallhäuser Weintreff is the platform through which the Wallhausen winemakers and wine friends organize and communicate joint events. On the association's website, wallhaeuser-weintreff.de, interested parties can find current dates, event information, and details about the participating wineries.
