Large city festival in Barsinghausen with three stages and a diverse program at the end of August
When the stages at Thie, MSA-Platz, and in the Speckmann area are set up on the last weekend of August, the Stadtfest Barsinghausen begins. Locally known as Basche Open Air — Basche being the familiar nickname for Barsinghausen — the festival transforms the city center into a festival mile for three days. Organized by the association IG Stadtfest e.V. Barsinghausen, it is a classic example of a community-driven city festival that makes a city's identity visible.
The concept relies on three thematically and spatially distinct stages that provide a broad acoustic and atmospheric range for the program. The Gilde stage at Thie usually features live bands, cover bands, and dance bands. The Stiller's stage at MSA-Platz is often more acoustic or DJ-oriented. The Rewe stage in the Speckmann area complements the stage program with further musical accents. This division ensures that there is something for every audience — from Schlager fans to rockers to DJ listeners.
In addition to the stages, classic city festival elements characterize the event: carousels and rides for children, a tombola with prizes from local retailers, a children's flea market, gastronomic stands from local providers, association stands, and interactive activities. The mini playback show has been a crowd-puller for years — children and teenagers perform as playback stars of their favorite music and are judged by a jury. This deliberately local and family-friendly character makes the city festival a meeting point for all generations.
Behind the festival is the association IG Stadtfest e.V. Barsinghausen — an alliance of local businesspeople, associations, and committed citizens who see the city festival as an identity project. Maintaining the nickname Basche and the close connection to local sponsors — Gilde, Stiller's, Rewe — underscore the local roots. Proceeds flow into the association's work, social projects, and the preparation of the next festival. This creates a sustainable format that makes the community of Barsinghausen visible anew each year.
From August 28 to 30, 2026, IG Stadtfest will once again transform the Barsinghausen city center into a festival mile with three stages. Live music, family entertainment, market stalls, and gastronomic offerings will characterize the three festival days.
The exact 2026 program will be published by IG Stadtfest in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
