Wine Enjoyment at the Steinhuder Meer

In recent years, the Weinfest Steinhude has established itself as a popular event among North German wine festivals. The combination of a historic location (the barn district), a professional selection of wines (vintners from all over Germany), fitting gastronomy (tarte flambée, cheese, bread platters), and a relaxed atmosphere makes this format a summer highlight.

Vintners from All Over Germany

The selection of participating vintners is made annually by the organisers. Typically expected are:

• Riesling specialists from the Mosel
• Spätburgunder and Riesling vintners from Pfalz and Rheinhessen
• Silvaner and Franconian wine representatives
• Spätburgunder, Lemberger, and Trollinger from Württemberg
• Sparkling wine manufacturers and sparkling wines

Program

The festival starts on Friday at 5 PM and runs all day on Saturday and Sunday. Live music accompanies the tastings – mostly acoustic sets, jazz, singer/songwriters, or small bands. The atmosphere is deliberately relaxed: no stage spectacle, but a pleasant soundscape for tasting, talking, and enjoying.

Setting: Barn District

The historic barn district on Meerstraße in Steinhude, with its old half-timbered buildings, courtyard, and close proximity to the Steinhuder Meer promenade, offers an extraordinary setting. Those who wish can combine their visit with a boat trip to the island fortress Wilhelmstein, a walk along the harbour, or a fish meal in one of the eel smokehouses.
