Over 200 private stalls in the Old Town – the region's most popular night flea market
When Osnabrück's Old Town is bathed in the warm light of streetlamps in April, the Nachtflohmarkt unfolds its very special charm. The historic squares around St. Mary's Church, the Town Hall, and the Cathedral become the stage for an evening and night-time market event that attracts thousands of people.
Unlike commercial flea markets, the Nachtflohmarkt primarily consists of private stalls: people from the region clear out their cellars, attics, and garages, bringing bric-a-brac, collectibles, clothing, books, records, crafts, and curiosities to the Old Town. With 201 stalls, the event is regularly completely sold out – a testament to its enduring popularity.
The event hours from 6:00 PM to midnight make the market an ideal outing for working people, students, and night owls. The market is accompanied by the open pubs and bars of the Old Town, which provide food and drinks.
The event is managed by Marketing Osnabrück, the city marketing organization of the 'Friedensstadt' (City of Peace). Among other things, they also organize the spring and autumn fairs as well as numerous city center events. The Nachtflohmarkt is one of their most successful formats.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by Marketing Osnabrück in the spring. The structure will follow the proven key points of previous years: setup in the late afternoon, market opening at 6:00 PM, peak hours between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, dismantling from midnight.
All 201 stalls are usually sold out weeks in advance. Applications for the next edition should be submitted promptly via marketingosnabrueck.de.
