Guided wine hike through the vineyards along the Nahe river with stops at Langenlonsheim's Straußwirtschaften
With over 350 hectares of vineyards, Langenlonsheim is one of the largest wine-growing communities in the Nahe region. The "Straußi läuft" wine hike day combines two pillars of village life twice a year: the vineyards and the Straußwirtschaften, those seasonally open farm taverns where vintners are allowed to serve their own wine and simple food.
On the second date in 2026, Saturday, July 25th, the program starts at 3 PM. Participants make their way independently or in loose groups along the vineyard paths, stopping at participating Straußwirtschaften to sample Riesling, Silvaner, Weißburgunder, as well as rosé and light red wines from the current vintage. Regional dishes are also served at the stops: "Winzervesper" (vintner's snack), Flammkuchen, fresh salads, and, in season, Federweißer (young wine) with onion cake.
The wine hike day takes place annually on two Saturdays – one in late spring, one in mid-summer. The two dates allow participants to experience the vineyards during different stages of vegetation: during the first date, the vines are in full growth; during the second, the grapes are already clearly visible.
Langenlonsheim is located in the heart of the Nahe wine region, between Bingen am Rhein and Bad Kreuznach. The area is famous for its mineral-driven white wines, especially Riesling, and for an exceptional diversity of soil types in a small area. The wine hike day is an accessible way to discover this richness without formal tastings or lengthy explanations – wine, landscape, and conviviality are the focus.
The second edition of the 2026 wine hike day brings locals and visitors to the vineyards around Langenlonsheim. Starting at 3 PM, hikers set off from the various Straußwirtschaften in the municipality and can explore the paths between the vines at their own pace.
At the participating stops, vintners offer their wines by the glass, accompanied by regional dishes. The atmosphere is familiar and casual – the event is intended as a pleasant afternoon hike with wine tasting, not a formal wine seminar.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
The list of participating establishments will be announced shortly before the event via the website of the municipality of Langenlonsheim.
Langenlonsheim is accessible by car via the B 48 and the A 61 (exit Stromberg or Bingen-Schwabenheim). By train, there is a station on the Bingen–Saarbrücken line, from which the vineyards can be reached on foot in a few minutes.
