Albig is a small wine-growing community in the Alzey-Worms district, located on the southern Hiwwelroute of Rheinhessen. The historic tower – a remnant of a medieval fortification – is one of the landmarks of the village and sits enthroned above the surrounding vineyards. With its prominent location, it offers a wide view over the Rheinhessen hills towards the Donnersberg. This scenic beauty makes the tower the ideal venue for a summer wine festival.

Weingut Knell as a Driving Force

Weingut Knell is one of Albig's traditional wineries and has been involved in viticulture for generations. With its Riesling, Silvaner, Grauburgunder, Spätburgunder, and a growing range of dry sparkling wine creations, the winery represents the modern Rheinhessen wine philosophy. For the Weinfest am Turm, it joins forces with other Albig vintners and the local municipality.

A Summer Evening Between Vineyards and Conviviality

From 4 PM, the wine stands at the tower open. Wine is served by the glass, accompanied by Spundekäs, pretzels, bratwurst, cheese platters, and sweet specialties. Guests sit at high tables or on straw bales, gaze over the vineyards, and enjoy the warm June sun slowly setting behind the hills. A small music group provides relaxed background music – not a concert with a huge stage, but an atmospheric wine festival in an intimate setting.
