38th edition of the wine fair with around 45 exhibitors and over 280 wines from Landau and the Südliche Weinstraße
The Weinerlebnis Landau Südliche Weinstraße has been the central showcase for the South Palatinate winegrowers since the late 1980s. The 38th edition in 2026 marks a change of location: for the first time, the fair will not be held in Landau's city center, but in the historic Jugendstil-Festhalle. Opened in 1907, the building is one of the most beautiful festival halls in Southern Germany and offers a fitting setting for a tasting of this magnitude.
Around 45 wineries from Landau and the surrounding communities of the Südliche Weinstraße will present their current range. Over 280 wines, sparkling wines, Crémants, and cuvées can be tasted and discussed personally with the winemakers. The selection ranges from dry Rieslings and classic Burgundies to characterful cuvées and noble sweet specialties.
Three masterclasses will complement the open tasting. On Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., renowned wine journalist Natalie Lumpp will lead the session "Rosé & Ray-Bans" focusing on the region's fine rosés. On Saturday at 3:30 p.m., "Wine meets Glass" will feature an exclusive Riedel masterclass demonstrating how the right glass can change the character of a wine. The second session with Natalie Lumpp, titled "New Kids on the Block," will conclude the event on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m.
Admission to the fair costs 25 Euros, including a tasting glass (worth 5 Euros). Holders of the Rheinpfalz-Karte receive discounts. The Riedel masterclass is subject to a separate charge (83 Euros) and is strictly limited – early registration is recommended.
The Weinerlebnis is considered the most important season opener for the South Palatinate wine industry. Trade professionals, the hospitality industry, wine merchants, and end consumers use the fair to sample the new vintage, secure sources, and exchange ideas with the producers.
The exhibitors will be spread across the main hall of the Jugendstil-Festhalle. The three masterclasses will take place concurrently in the foyer and side halls. The winemakers will be pouring their current vintages, providing information on vineyard sites, winemaking methods, and sources of supply.
