About Wine and Marksmen's Festival Kröv

The Wein- und Schützenfest Kröv combines two festival formats deeply rooted in Mosel tradition into a lively October weekend: the marksmen's festival of the local marksmen's club and the presentation of wines from Kröv's vineyards, especially the famous – and contentiously named – Kröver Nacktarsch. In and around the Weinbrunnenhalle, marksmen, vintners, locals, and Mosel guests gather for festivities, club activities, and wine service. It opens on Friday evening, and Saturday focuses on the family afternoon with coffee and cake.

Marksmen Tradition on the Mosel

Marksmanship is deeply ingrained in the Rhineland and along the Mosel. In Kröv too, the local marksmen's club organizes its marksmen's festival every year – traditionally with a ceremony, king's shoot, festive procession, and social gathering. In Kröv, the marksmen's festival has been organically linked with the local wine festival for decades and takes place accordingly in the Weinbrunnenhalle, the central venue of the Mosel wine village.

The Wines of Kröver Nacktarsch

Kröv is one of the most famous Mosel wine villages – not least because of the original vineyard name "Kröver Nacktarsch," which is among Germany's most discussed wine labels worldwide. The large vineyard area yields Rieslings in many styles on slate soils, from dry-mineral to sweet, and Kröv also has a whole range of other vineyards and producers. At the Wein- und Schützenfest, Kröv vintners present a selection of their current vintages in the Weinbrunnenhalle.

Hall Festival with a Club Atmosphere

The atmosphere is that of a classic Mosel club festival: hearty club cuisine, wine by the glass, brass band music, and dancing. The family afternoon on Saturday from 3:00 PM with coffee and cake is the village's family meeting point. Those seeking Mosel tourism beyond the major spectacles will feel right at home here – the marksmen's festival is a celebration of the village community, to which guests are warmly welcomed.
