Three days of festival culture with Ürziger Würzgarten on the Middle Moselle
The “Ürziger Würzgarten” is one of the most famous vineyards in the world. The red sandstone slopes above the village differ significantly in color and mineralogy from the usual blue Devonian slate of the Middle Moselle. This uniqueness shapes the Rieslings grown here: spicy, exotic, with fine acidity and great aging potential. International wine experts rank the Würzgarten among Germany's great vineyards.
The Wine and Heritage Festival combines the presentation of Ürzig wines with the village's customs. Representatives of associations, traditional costume groups, music bands, and historical floats characterize the parade. Wine is served in the festival tents and courtyards, traditional dishes are offered, and in the evening, the festive atmosphere transforms into a dance and music event.
The program spans three days. Friday marks the start of the festival with the first wine service and musical entertainment. Saturday centers around the parade, complemented by all-day tastings and an evening program. Sunday is Family Day with a morning pint, coffee and cake, and a relaxed conclusion.
Ürzig is located between Erden and Zeltingen-Rachtig in the heart of the Middle Moselle. The spectacular steep slope of the Würzgarten reaches almost to the village houses, making Ürzig one of the most impressive wine backdrops in the region.
The heritage festival is one of the traditional summer festivals of the Middle Moselle and is part of the festival chain between Bernkastel and Traben-Trarbach.
The exact program for 2026, including band lineups and times, will be published by the local council in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
