Advent Magic in Lingen City Centre

The Weihnachtsmarkt Lingen is one of the largest and most atmospheric Christmas markets in the southern Emsland region. Running for more than five weeks — from 23 November to 27 December 2026 — it offers an open programme throughout the entire Advent season. The historic city centre of Lingen with its market square, bourgeois houses, and Christmas illuminations provides one of the most beautiful backdrops that an Emsland Christmas market can offer.

The Biggest Covered Ice Rink in the Emsland Region

The outstanding highlight is the covered ice rink — the largest of its kind in the entire Emsland region. Unlike open-air ice surfaces, it can be used regardless of the weather, making it a reliable family highlight. Skates can be rented on site; children, beginners, and experienced skaters will all find their place on the ice.

Ice Stock Sport

In addition to classic ice skating, there are opportunities for ice stock sport — an Alpine tradition that has become increasingly popular in northern Germany in recent years. Ideal for company parties, groups, or simply friends looking for a convivial evening on the ice.

Ice Skating Shows

On selected dates, professional ice skating shows will take place on the rink — turning Lingen into a small ice stage with a high-calibre programme.

Fire Shows and Live Music on Weekends

On Advent weekends, fire shows and musical performances complement the programme. The musical spectrum ranges from classic Advent choirs to jazz combos and live bands. The fire shows create particularly atmospheric evening highlights and provide stunning visual displays.

Mulled Wine, Bratwurst, Specialities

The gastronomic offer is extensive: traditional mulled wine and hot drinks, bratwurst and potato pancakes, regional specialities from the Emsland region, and international snacks. The sweet stalls with roasted almonds, gingerbread, chocolate-covered fruit, and crêpes complete the offering.

As in any good Christmas market, there are numerous stalls selling arts and crafts, handmade gifts, Christmas decorations, knitwear, wood crafts, and culinary souvenirs.
