Indoor Riding Tournament with Prestige
In the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the Lower Rhine, lies the small town of Uedem in the district of Kleve — and there, in the district of Keppeln, is the Reitercamp Hötzenhof. Once a year, in winter and spring, the facility transforms into the venue for one of the most important indoor riding tournaments in the Rhineland: the Keppelner Springfestival, organized by the Reiterverein von Bredow Keppeln, a club over 100 years old.
Two Parts Between January and March 2026
The 2026 edition is divided into two events:
Part 1 — January 29 to February 1, 2026
- Jumping in classes L (115 cm), M* (125 cm), and S** (140 cm)
- Four days of competition in the Hötzenhof riding hall
- Top-class show jumpers from all over North Rhine-Westphalia
Part 2 — February 27 to March 1, 2026
- Dressage and Jumping indoors
- Three days of competition with a broader range of equestrian sports
Reiterverein von Bredow Keppeln
Behind the festival is the Reiterverein von Bredow Keppeln, which has supported organized riding in this rural Lower Rhine region for over 100 years. The club works closely with the Reitercamp Hötzenhof, whose spacious indoor facilities provide the conditions for high-class indoor riding. With the two events in winter and spring, the club sets a firm date in the calendar for ambitious equestrian sports in the Rhineland.
Class S** — What It Means
For non-riders to understand: Class S** is one of the highest jumping competitions in German tournament sports — obstacles up to 140 cm high, demanding high standards for horse and rider, professional level. Those who compete here are among the elite of show jumping in the region.
Streaming and Spectators
Those who cannot attend in person can often follow the jumping competitions via ClipMyHorse.tv — the streaming portal broadcasts numerous German riding tournaments live. On-site, there are grandstands overlooking the jumping arena, catering, and stable tours.
Uedem-Keppeln — On the Lower Rhine
Uedem is a small municipality in the district of Kleve, rural, traditional, with under 9,000 inhabitants. The district of Keppeln is even smaller, but with the Reitercamp Hötzenhof as a focal point. The rural Lower Rhine landscape with forests, meadows, and small farms shapes the atmosphere — those who come to the Spring Festival immerse themselves in a world away from the big cities, yet offering top-class sport.
