Family-friendly Christmas market in the Amtsgarten with arts and crafts, gastronomy, and stage program
In early November, the Lilienthal Christmas market prepares the community for the coming Advent season. The market is deliberately held early to accompany the people of Lilienthal and their guests into a festive holiday period without competing with the many other Christmas markets in the region. This timing has become established over the years and ensures a good response.
The Amtsgarten Lilienthal is a historic site in the heart of the municipality. With old trees, well-maintained paths, and the town hall as an imposing building, it offers the ideal setting for a Christmas market with atmosphere. Illuminated wooden huts, fairy lights on the trees, and the scent of mulled wine, almonds, and fir green create a pre-Christmas mood that invites visitors to linger.
Over forty stalls present handmade products from the region: ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, textiles, soaps, candles, and Christmas decorations. Gastronomy is provided by both local associations and professional vendors. The offerings range from hearty bratwurst to fish rolls, crepes, and potato pancakes, as well as punch, mulled wine, and non-alcoholic hot drinks.
Kindergartens, school choirs, brass bands, and music clubs shape the festive program on the stage in the Amtsgarten. Concerts and performances provide atmospheric moments and actively involve the community's club life in the festival. Highlights include performances by local choirs and music groups on Saturday evening.
For children, there is a dedicated craft area, carousels, and a visit from Santa Claus. The market is intended as a meeting place where neighbors, families, and friends can meet and experience the shared pre-Christmas spirit.
The 2026 Lilienthal Christmas market runs from Friday evening to Sunday evening. While Friday is dedicated to the festive opening, Saturday and Sunday are the main market days with the full program, stage music, and catering.
Illuminated wooden huts, fairy lights in the trees, and the scent of fir branches, mulled wine, and roasted almonds lend the market grounds a warm, pre-Christmas atmosphere that sets the mood for the holidays even before the actual Advent season begins.
The detailed program will be published by the municipality of Lilienthal in late summer 2026. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
