The Only Christmas Market in Friesoythe's Town Center

The Weihnachtsmarkt Friesoythe is the only Christmas market in the town center of Friesoythe — unlike Cloppenburg or Löningen, which have several Advent events, Friesoythe concentrates on one market day. The event is organized by the town of Friesoythe in cooperation with the local business association.

4th Saturday of Advent — The Late Date

The date on the 4th Saturday of Advent — just a few days before Christmas — gives the Friesoythe market its special character: it is the last meeting point before the Christmas holidays where locals and guests from the Nordkreis Cloppenburg can get into the festive spirit. The twelve-hour opening period (10:00 AM–10:00 PM) allows for visits with children during the day as well as enjoying mulled wine with friends in the evening.

North German Specialties

The culinary offerings place a special emphasis on North German specialties: in addition to classic mulled wine, Braunkohl (a traditional East Frisian-Oldenburg winter dish) is offered, complemented by Christmas foods such as bratwurst, potato pancakes, gingerbread, and candied almonds.
