Advent atmosphere on the Moselle
The Christmas market in Bullay is a classic Moselle event in a small but lovingly designed setting. While larger towns like Cochem or Bernkastel-Kues offer extensive Christmas markets with thousands of visitors, Bullay focuses on a compact, atmospheric market in the historic village center, primarily appealing to the local population and guests from neighboring Moselle villages.
The wooden stalls are spread across Lindenplatz and the adjacent streets. Artisans present ceramics, woodwork, knitted textiles, handmade soaps, and small Christmas decorations. Regional manufacturers offer honey, jams, liqueurs, and game sausage from the Eifel and Hunsrück regions. At the mulled wine stands, Bullay vintners serve their own mulled wines based on their Riesling and Dornfelder grapes, along with punch, advocaat, and hot drinks.
The culinary offerings range from classic Advent specialties such as potato pancakes, bratwurst, and pea soup to regional specialties like Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck) and local cheese. Sweet treats are available at stalls selling candied almonds, Schmalzgebäck (lard pastries), and gingerbread.
Bullay is excellently connected via the Koblenz–Trier railway line, making a visit to the Christmas market convenient even without a car. The market is therefore also popular with day-trippers from Koblenz, Trier, and the Rhine-Moselle area.
The 2026 Christmas Market in Bullay opens on Saturday, November 28th, in the early afternoon and closes on Sunday, November 29th, in the early evening. The stalls are spread across Lindenplatz and the adjacent alleys. The organizer is the Bullay Festival Committee in cooperation with local associations.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in November. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
