Season finale of the Sauerland Schützenfeste — three days of tradition in Heid, Wenden
When the Sauerland Schützenfeste draw to a close at the end of August, the Schützenfest Heid marks the dramatic endpoint: From August 28 to 30, 2026, the St. Antonius Schützenverein Heid will celebrate its grand club festival in the district of the same name in the municipality of Wenden — the final stop of the Sauerland Schützenfest season. The club is organized within the Sauerländer Schützenbund and preserves tradition across generations.
The Heid Schützenfest distinguishes itself from classic Schützenfeste through its broad, cross-generational program:
The club sees itself not just as a festival club, but as a cross-generational village institution. In February 2026, Florian Halbe was unanimously elected as the new chairman — succeeding Tobias Halbe after his 12-year term. The club maintains several youth groups — the "Wilde Mäuse," open youth work, and the Jugendgruppe Heid — thus bridging the gap between generations.
Heid is a district of the municipality of Wenden in the Olpe district in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the southern Sauerland. Wenden is a municipality large in area with many small districts — each with its own Schützen club, its own festivals, and its own identity. The Heid Schützenfest is the largest and most visible event of the district and attracts onlookers from far beyond the village borders.
The 2026 edition follows the proven three-day format. Friday offers a cross-generational program with a children's component in the afternoon and the Mallorca Party in the evening. The grand parade on Saturday is the central public highlight, while Sunday brings the conclusion with the morning pint and the proclamation of the king. It is the first edition under new club leadership: Florian Halbe succeeded Tobias Halbe as chairman in February 2026.
Admission to the parade and festival tent is free. The Mallorca Party and individual evening events may have an admission fee.
Wenden is accessible by bus from Olpe and Siegen (Sauerland regional service). By car, take the A45 (Wenden exit) or the B54. Parking is available at the festival grounds and on adjacent streets.
Admission to the parade and festival tent is free. The Mallorca Party and individual evening events may have an admission fee.
For those who want to experience the Heid Schützenfest in its unique way: Friday evening Mallorca Party (for adults) or Children's Party (for families), Saturday Grand Parade (a must), Sunday Schützen morning pint.
