Advent Market in the Historic Monastery Ensemble
Rommersdorf Abbey is one of the most important cultural monuments in the Neuwied urban area. The former Premonstratensian abbey in Heimbach-Weis looks back on a history of more than 900 years and is now a venue for concerts, readings, and markets. Every two years, a special Christmas market is held within its historic walls, characterized by its intimate size and extraordinary atmosphere.
Citizens' Community as Organizer
The citizens' community Pro Heimbach-Weis is responsible for the organization. This voluntary initiative combines the commitment of many Heimbach-Weis residents with the aim of keeping the cultural heritage of the abbey alive. The Advent market is part of this program, uniting tradition, community, and charity.
Advent Atmosphere within Ancient Walls
The stalls offer Christmas classics: mulled wine, punch, regional baked goods, bratwurst, hearty specialties, as well as arts and crafts, decorations, and gift ideas. The historic setting with old walls, the inner courtyard, and the monastery buildings give the market a very special ambiance, clearly distinguishing it from larger city center Christmas markets.
