One week, one city, one element — new themed week focusing on water, healing springs, and spa tradition
Bad Pyrmont is one of North Germany's most traditional spa towns. Seven state-recognized healing springs, the historic spa park with the northernmost palm garden in the Alps, and an almost 500-year history of spa treatments shape the town's identity. With the Wasser-Fest 2026, this heritage will be celebrated for the first time in the form of an entire themed week. Bad Pyrmont Tourismus GmbH is conceptualizing the format as a kick-off event with the ambition of being held regularly in the future.
The venues range from Brunnenplatz to the Wandelhalle, the Kurtheater, the concert shell, the Hauffschen Brunnen, the Museum im Schloss, and the Hufeland-Therme. At each location, the element of water is staged differently: as a soundscape, as a healing agent, as a historical symbol, as an artistic motif, or as play material for children. The official opening on June 1st at 3 PM in the Wandelhalle marks the start of a week intended to appeal to every generation.
Several guided tours per day explore the history of the Pyrmont healing springs, whose healing powers were documented as early as the 16th century. Expert guides explain the effects of the 'Säuerlinge' (acidulous springs), the importance of drinking cures, and the architecture of the Wandelhalle. Those who want to delve deeper can visit parallel exhibitions at the museum or attend lectures in the concert hall.
Open-air concerts by the pond, live music in the Wandelhalle, classical matinees in the concert hall, and open-air cinema featuring films with a water theme round off the program. Restaurants and cafés in the city center are participating with special water-themed menus, regional drinks, and tastings of Pyrmont's healing waters.
Workshops for children, scavenger hunts with water stations, craft activities, and small water experiments make the Wasser-Fest an experience for the whole family. The Hufeland-Therme opens its doors for special events, and hands-on stations are set up at several locations in the city center.
Bad Pyrmont is located in the southern Lower Saxony Weserbergland region, nestled between the Bomberg, Königsberg, and Schellenberg hills. The spa town looks back on almost 500 years of history as a healing spa and is part of the Great Spas of Europe association. The Wasser-Fest underscores this identity and positions itself as an annual highlight in the event calendar.
The Wasser-Fest Bad Pyrmont celebrates its premiere in 2026 and will be held from June 1st to 7th with a themed week that explores the element of water in its cultural, historical, and health-related facets. Detailed program information will be continuously updated on the organizer's website.
The historic Wandelhalle serves as the opening venue. From there, concerts, guided tours, exhibitions, and family activities will be spread across the spa park and the city center.
The exact program for each day will be published by the organizer in spring 2026. The structure follows these proven focal points:
By car via the A2 (exit Bad Eilsen) or A33 (exit Bielefeld-Sennestadt), then continue on the B83 to Bad Pyrmont. By train to Bad Pyrmont station, connections via Altenbeken and Hameln. From the station to the city center is about a 10-minute walk.
Monday, June 1st to Sunday, June 7th, 2026. Opening on June 1st at 3 PM in the Wandelhalle. Venues spread throughout the spa park, city center, Wandelhalle, and other locations.
Detailed program at wasser-fest-badpyrmont.de. Many events are free, individual concerts and workshops are subject to a fee.
