An Autumn Tradition in Delmenhorst
The Autumn Fair is the smaller, but no less charming, version of Delmenhorst's double funfair events. What is celebrated for nine days in spring with a large parade runs more compactly over five days in autumn – but with the same folk festival character and many regular visitors who remain loyal to the autumn date.
The Graftwiesen as the Fairground
As with the spring fair, the Graftwiesen are the venue. The historic ramparts around the castle island provide a picturesque backdrop for the rides, shooting galleries, and catering tents. With the early sunsets in mid-September, the evening illumination of the funfair unfolds its special charm.
Sunday Opening Hours on September 13th
On Sunday, September 13th, the shops in Delmenhorst city center will open their doors from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. An ideal day for a stroll through the city, combined with a visit to the funfair on the Graftwiesen and a browse through the weekly market on Saturday (if you arrive in time).
Combination with "Heimat Shoppen"
From September 7th to 13th, the "Heimat Shoppen" campaign week organized by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) takes place, in which Delmenhorst retailers participate. By combining the two dates, the city center becomes a stage for local trade and the urban folk festival in September.
Family Program
Carousels, roller coasters, rides for the little ones, and candy stalls make the fair a family experience. Parents can visit shooting galleries and lottery stalls with their children, and enjoy bratwurst, candied almonds, and sweets.
