First Midsummer Festival for the 1175th Anniversary of the Municipality on June 19-21, 2026
With the 1st Wallenhorst Midsummer Weekend, the municipality of Wallenhorst is launching a completely new festival format in 2026 — and it's timed for the 1175th anniversary of the municipality. Wallenhorst is thus one of the oldest municipalities in the northern Osnabrück region and is using the anniversary to establish a consciously new tradition.
The festival runs from Friday, June 19, to Sunday, June 21, 2026. The venue is the area around the Hollager Mühle — one of Wallenhorst's landmarks. The historic mill offers a picturesque backdrop for a summer festival inspired by Scandinavian midsummer traditions.
The Midsummer Weekend is jointly organized by the parish, local administration, and the Wallenhorst Marketing Association. This alliance of spiritual, secular, and economic commitment gives the festival an inclusive character and ensures a broad program with diverse accents.
The festival date is based on the calendar start of summer and the longest days of the year. Bright evenings, long twilight, mild temperatures — the natural conditions for a midsummer festival are ideal. Concerts go late, and light installations at the mill create accents in the twilight.
The municipality of Wallenhorst is located northwest of Osnabrück and, with almost 24,000 inhabitants, is one of the larger municipalities in the district. With the Midsummer Weekend, it sends a clear signal: despite its long history, Wallenhorst is ready for new formats and modern festival culture.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizers in spring. The structure follows the Midsummer concept:
