Volksfest in the Hallertau

Rudelzhausen is located in the Freising district, right in the heart of the Hallertau — the world's largest contiguous hop-growing region. Every year, over the Ascension Day weekend, the TSV Rudelzhausen 1948 e.V. hosts its Volksfest: four days in the festival tent with brass music, party bands, catering from the club's kitchen, and Festbier from the Schlossbrauerei Au/Hallertau.

Four Days of Festival Tent Tradition

The program follows a schedule that has evolved over decades. Father's Day (Ascension Day) opens with a church service, a concert, and a beer tapping ceremony. Friday is traditionally dedicated to seniors and in the afternoon to children, Saturday to businesses, clubs, and authorities, and Sunday concludes with a morning pint, a vintage car meet, and brass music. Live bands from the region provide the atmosphere on all evenings.

Vintage Car Meet and Club Life

A highlight is the vintage car meet on Volksfest Sunday starting at 10 AM, where historic vehicles are exhibited. The Volksfest is also the most important social event in the community: TSV Rudelzhausen provides catering with volunteer helpers, and the proceeds benefit the club's activities. Evening raffles with beer keg prizes are a firm tradition.

Rudelzhausen and the Hallertau

The municipality of Rudelzhausen is located between Mainburg and Au in the Holledau region. Gentle hills, hop fields, and beer culture characterize the region. A visit to the Volksfest can be well combined with a bike tour through the hop fields or a detour to the Schlossbrauerei Au.
