Community Festival in the Western Border Region

Itterbeck is a small municipality near the Dutch border and belongs to the Samtgemeinde Uelsen. Like many communities in the Niedergrafschaft, the village cultivates a vibrant club culture, which finds its annual climax in the Volksfest. Marksmen, footballers, the rural youth, the local heritage society, and other groups organize the festival together.

Three Days in a Proven Structure

The Volksfest adheres to a clear three-day structure. Friday evening opens the festival from 8 PM, Saturday starts in the late afternoon from 5 PM and develops into the main evening, and Sunday offers an extended day program from 11 AM with a morning pint, a family gathering, and a relaxed conclusion.

Customs and Family Program

The program follows the typical structure of a Niedergrafschaft Schützen and community festival: bird shooting, king's dinner, parade, dance evening, family day, and morning pint are the recurring components. The exact details are published by the organizers shortly before the festival.

Marquee as the Centerpiece

The marquee at the festival grounds Nordker Esch 1 is the central meeting and stage venue. Catering with beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and hot meals, a dance floor, and a stage for live bands or DJ sets characterize the festival's atmosphere.

Itterbeck as a Community

With around 1,500 inhabitants, Itterbeck is a small municipality whose identity is strongly shaped by its village community. The Volksfest is one of the few events that sets the entire village in motion for several days, thus becoming a collective point of identification for the population.
