Volksfest Community as Organizer

The Volksfestgemeinschaft Gadenstedt, as an association of local clubs, is the organizing body of the annual folk festival. Instead of a single club bearing the organizational burden alone, the shooting club, sports club, fire department, youth association, and other organizations share the tasks, thus securing the festival tradition across generations.

Preparatory Shooting Competitions

In the weeks leading up to the main festival, the sporting preliminary rounds take place. On May 30 and 31, 2026, the king's, bird, prize, and cup shooting competitions will be held to determine the new monarchs. These competitions are not only sportingly relevant but also offer social interaction in the festival tent.

Pentecost Camp of the Shooting Club

A separate tradition is the Pentecost camp of the Gadenstedt shooting club, which takes place from May 23 to 26, 2026. The camp is a mix of shooting camaraderie, tent camp atmosphere, and folk festival, and is particularly aimed at the younger members of the club, their families, and friendly clubs.

Main Folk Festival from June 12 to 14

The main folk festival itself takes place from June 12 to 14, 2026, at the Gadenstedt festival grounds. Three days of festivities, including a parade, crowning of the new monarchs, shooting ball, morning pint, and children's afternoon, characterize the weekend. The festival tent is the social center during all three days.

Gadenstedt as Festival Location

Gadenstedt is a district of the municipality of Ilsede with a vibrant club life. The folk festival is one of the most important social events of the year, bringing together the village community, former residents, and guests from the entire Peine district.
