Volksfest Algermissen

Volksfest since 1960

In 2026, the Volksfest Algermissen celebrates its 66th anniversary (premiere 1960) and has been one of the major summer meeting points for the community of Algermissen for generations. During the summer weeks, the concept of amusement park and festival atmosphere that characterizes North German Volksfeste returns: festival tent, amusement rides, food stalls, dance evenings, and a grand parade.

Volksfestgemeinschaft as Organizer

The organizer is the Volksfestgemeinschaft Algermissen, an association of several Algermissen clubs. This form of joint organization is typical for Lower Saxony Volksfeste and guarantees a broad volunteer base. The Volksfestgemeinschaft coordinates the program, logistics, and cooperation with showmen and caterers.

Four Program Pillars

The program is divided into four pillars: 1) the senior citizens' afternoon, which is specially organized for the older residents of Algermissen and usually features coffee, cake, and musical entertainment; 2) children's entertainment with carousels, bouncy castles, hands-on activities, and small stage performances; 3) festival evenings in the tent with live bands or DJ sets; 4) the highlight program with fireworks and the grand parade on Sunday.

Parade on Sunday

The grand parade on Sunday winds through Algermissen, bringing together clubs, music bands, floats, and marksmen's companies (Schützenkompanien). It is the social highlight of the festival and is eagerly awaited by numerous spectators from Algermissen and neighboring communities.

Fireworks

The fireworks on the festival weekend are among the program items visible far beyond the festival grounds. The Algermissen showmen and the Volksfestgemeinschaft ensure an impressive staging that makes the evening a visual experience.

Festival Grounds Ostpreußenstraße

The venue is the festival grounds on Ostpreußenstraße, an open area on the outskirts of Algermissen, which is equipped with a festival tent, amusement rides, and stalls. Opening hours on the three festival days are usually 3 PM to 11 PM. Designated parking spaces in the vicinity facilitate arrival by car.
