Tradition in the Helmstedt District

Emmerstedt is located north of Helmstedt's city center on the edge of the Lappwald forest and is a district of the city of Helmstedt. For generations, the Schützenfest has been the highlight of the club year here, uniting the entire village community.

Emmerstedt Marksmen's Association

The Emmerstedt Marksmen's Association is the organizer of the festival. In the weeks leading up to it, the King's shooting competition is held, the winner of which is ceremonially proclaimed on Saturday evening. The new King and his Queen will then lead the social activities of the association for a year.

The Grand Parade on Saturday

The highlight of the festival weekend is the parade on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, at 4 PM. Marksmen's clubs from neighboring towns, brass bands, the Emmerstedt fire brigade, friendly associations, festival floats, and the reigning Marksmen's King march through the village streets. Residents decorate houses and streets, and the village community accompanies the procession.

Festival Marquee and Grounds

A festival site with a large beer tent, catering, a stage, a dance floor, a carousel for children, and a shooting range is set up at the Emmerstedt sports field. Dance bands play in the evenings, and on Sunday morning, a morning pint concert accompanies the social gathering.

Family Day on Sunday

Sunday is Family Day. After the morning pint starting at 11 AM, the children's parade takes place, followed by a program for the youngest visitors. Children's shooting, a bouncy castle, games, and catering define the afternoon.

More Than Just a Marksmen's Festival

Even those who are not interested in shooting sports are welcome at the Volks- und Schützenfest Emmerstedt. The carousel, bratwurst, beer, live music, and the convivial encounters in the marquee make the weekend a social event for the district.
