Grand Homeland and City Festival of the Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach Municipality with Balloon Glow on the Wied River
The Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach municipality was formed in 2019 from the merger of the Rengsdorf and Waldbreitbach municipalities and today comprises over 20 local communities in the northern Neuwied district. The region is characterized by the Wied valley, the Wieser Wald forest, and the heights of the Westerwald. The VG Days offer a stage once a year to make this geographical and social diversity visible.
Over 130 stands from local communities, clubs, social institutions, schools, kindergartens, businesses, craft businesses, and cultural initiatives line up on the festival grounds along the Wied riverbank in Waldbreitbach. Each municipality in the VG gets the opportunity to present itself — an important aspect of the internal integration of the young municipality. Live bands, choirs, dance groups, solo musicians, and small theater ensembles alternate on the central stage.
The highlight of the festival weekend is the Balloon Glow on Saturday evening. Hot air balloons ignite their burners along the Wied riverbank, bathing the festival grounds in a colorful spectacle of light. A performance that attracts many hundreds of spectators and creates a magical summer evening atmosphere.
Families will find interactive stations, face painting, bouncy castles, and craft activities from schools and kindergartens. Adults can meet the stand partners from the municipalities, network, get information about local offerings, and enjoy the gastronomic selection with Westerwald specialties, bratwurst, fries, crêpes, pizza, wine stands, and beer service.
The Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach Municipal Days, as its central citizens' festival, places particular emphasis on the visibility of all local communities and clubs. The Balloon Glow is the recurring hallmark of the festival, attracting visitors from the entire Neuwied district and the Westerwald.
