The Verlaatjer Pfingstmarkt is its most important Volksfest and is reliably organized year after year by the local association and the municipality. Unlike the large markets in Bunde or Weener, the festival focuses on a few intensive days.

The actual trademark of the market is the Pulsstockspringen competition on Störtebekerplatz. In this ancient Frisian discipline, participants jump over a ditch with a long pole, trying to get as far as possible—a mix of skill, courage, and acrobatics. In addition, scythe throwing and other traditional disciplines are part of the program and attract an enthusiastic audience.
