Late Summer Funfair in the Palace Town

The Ellernfest Rastede is one of the most traditional folk festivals (Volksfeste) in the Ammerland region and has been an integral part of the Rastede event calendar for almost five decades. The organizer is the Verkehrsverein Rastede e.V., which hosts the funfair on the central Turnierplatz — right next to the palace park.

The 2026 edition runs from Friday, September 11th, to Sunday, September 13th, 2026. Three days of family funfair for all generations — a classic mix of rides, food, live music, and family entertainment.

Rides and Funfair Highlights

Classic funfair attractions are expected:

• Music Express for the young and young at heart
• Children's carousels for the little ones
• Throwing stalls, grabber machines, shooting galleries

Family Day and Supporting Program

The weekend typically offers a Family Sunday with reduced ride prices and smaller activities for children. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the funfair atmosphere is enhanced by live music from the festival tent.

Rastede — Funfair Tradition

The Ellernfest is part of a long tradition of Rastede folk festivals. Together with music days, the Oldenburg State Tournament, and the Night of Lights, it shapes the year-round event calendar in the palace town and is a meeting point for the entire region.
