A Traditional Festival Returns
The Vegesacker Hafenfest is one of the festivals that the north of Bremen has missed for a long time. After a break of about six years, it will return to the museum harbor of Vegesack in 2026. It originated from an initiative by Vegesack business people and restaurateurs — and grew year by year into one of the region's major folk festivals before resting for several years. The revival in the state of Bremen is a small homecoming festival for many in the district, which is finally taking place again.
Two Stages by the Water
The Vegesacker Hafenwald will be used with a large stage and the Utkiek with a smaller stage. Over the weekend, several regional bands and artists will perform; the highlight is the performance by schlager singer Olaf Henning on Saturday evening on the Hafenwald stage. Around 30 stalls, beer tents, and gastronomic stands will provide food and drinks, from bratwurst to fish sandwiches — fitting for the maritime location right on the water.
Family Program and Maritime Flair
In the Kontor area, there is a children's area with a bungee trampoline, duck fishing, can tossing, a children's carousel, and the chain carousel Looping-Star. Sunday is explicitly dedicated to families and children, making the folk festival a relaxed family day towards the end of the weekend. The maritime program around the historic harbor combines folk festival atmosphere with the special ambiance of the museum harbor, where historic ships are anchored.
Vegesack and the Water
With its harbor, built between 1618 and 1623, Vegesack has one of the oldest artificial river harbors in Germany and has always been closely connected to shipping. The museum harbor with its traditional ships and the Maritime Mile along the Weser still recall this rich past. The harbor festival brings this tradition to life for a weekend, uniting the entire north of Bremen on the Weser — harbor history to touch, celebrate, and enjoy.
