In 2026, the market will be in its 12th edition over two Advent weekends in December.

Unlike most Christmas markets, the Unikat-Markt charges an admission fee of €14 per adult — children under 12 are free. This admission price includes a complimentary glass of mulled wine or punch. Thursday Afterwork — the DJ Version

A new feature in recent years is the Thursday Afterwork Market: for just €10 incl. hot drink, the market opens on Thursday evening in an after-office mode with DJ and saxophone player. A mix of after-work lounge and Christmas market, specifically targeting young professionals from Cologne-Mülheim, Bergisch Gladbach, and the Bergisches Land region.

Sunday Family Concert "Cinderella"

On Sundays, a musical fairy tale for children takes place in the Salon Goethe of the castle: "Cinderella" is narrated by actor Philipp Schepmann, accompanied by soloists from the Bergisch Gladbach Symphony Orchestra. Admission is €29 per person (adults), €10 for children up to 12 years old — including access to the Christmas market. A cultural program element that extends the market's premium claim to the children's segment.

The venue is one of Germany's most renowned hotels: the Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg — a five-star superior hotel in a former baroque hunting lodge from the 18th century. The hotel operates several Michelin-starred restaurants (including Joachim Wissler's 3-star restaurant "Vendôme" until 2024) and is considered one of the best addresses for wellness and gourmet travel in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Christmas market is part of the extensive event calendar and uses the spectacular esplanade in front of the castle as its backdrop.

Schloss Bensberg is located on the eastern outskirts of Bergisch Gladbach (Bensberg district), the district capital of the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. With around 112,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest towns between Cologne and the Bergisches Land. Besides Schloss Bensberg, other sights include the Wallfahrtskirche Bensberg (Bensberg Pilgrimage Church), the LVR-Industriemuseum Papiermühle Alte Dombach (LVR Industrial Museum Old Paper Mill Dombach), and the Mediathek in Gottfried Böhm's new town hall.
