21 Sunday open-air concerts at Ulm's Weinhof — Free entry
An unusual event format has been combining Ulm summers for years: The Ulmer Paradekonzerte are a concert series on Sunday mornings at Ulm's Weinhof, directly in the shadow of Ulm Minster. From Sunday, May 10, to Sunday, October 4, 2026, brass bands, big bands, and swing ensembles from Ulm and the region perform every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. — for free and in the open air.
The 2026 season starts on Mother's Day, May 10, 2026 — with the Ulm Army Music Corps. The Bundeswehr's Army Music Corps is one of Southern Germany's most significant brass ensembles and has been a regular opening act for the Paradekonzerte for years. Their performance on Mother's Day — with precise military sound, march music, and solo performances — traditionally marks the beginning of the series.
The season finale takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, exceptionally not at the Weinhof, but in the historic Ulm Kornhaus. The performers are the Stadtkapelle Ulm — the city's own music association. The Kornhaus, a Gothic building from the 14th century, is one of Ulm's significant medieval buildings and offers an atmospheric stage for the last concert of the season.
On September 27, 2026, there will be no Paradekonzert — on the same day, the Einstein Marathon, one of the city's largest sporting events, runs through the city center and across the Weinhof. For logistical and acoustic reasons, the concert series takes a break this Sunday. The remaining 20 dates proceed as planned.
The program for the 21 Sundays is musically diverse. Regional brass bands (Stadtkapelle Ulm, music associations from Neu-Ulm and the Alb-Donau district) feature on some Sundays. Swing and big band ensembles bring a different sonic aesthetic to the Weinhof. Youth bands and student ensembles occasionally perform — promoting young musicians is part of the concept. The exact program order is curated anew each year and published at ulm.de/kultur/ulmer-paradekonzerte/programm.
The Ulmer Weinhof is a central square in the northern part of Ulm's Old Town, directly by the Minster and the market square. With historic buildings — half-timbered houses, Renaissance buildings, the Schwörhaus with its famous mayor's speech on Schwörmontag — it offers a wonderful backdrop for Sunday morning concerts. The acoustics of the square are good, and the catering by surrounding cafés and restaurants — from Donaubäcker to Maultaschen stands — adds to the enjoyment of the concerts.
Ulm, with around 130,000 inhabitants, is a city in the Tübingen administrative region, located on the Danube and on the border with Bavaria (Neu-Ulm belongs to Bavaria). It is famous primarily for Ulm Minster, whose tower, at 161.53 meters, is the tallest church tower in the world. Albert Einstein was born here in 1879 — accordingly, the city's identity is strongly linked to the physicist. The Paradekonzerte are one of the many cultural elements that make Ulm one of Southern Germany's most vibrant medium-sized cities.
The 21 concerts of the Ulmer Paradekonzerte 2026 are spread from mid-May to early October — every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The season opens on Mother's Day, May 10, 2026, with the Ulm Army Music Corps — one of Southern Germany's traditional brass ensembles. The season finale on October 4, 2026, features the Stadtkapelle Ulm in the Kornhaus — exceptionally not at the Weinhof, but in one of the city's most significant Gothic secular buildings.
On September 27, 2026, the series takes a break — on the same day, the Einstein Marathon runs through the city center. The remaining 20 dates bring brass bands, big bands, swing ensembles, and youth bands from Ulm and the region to the Weinhof stage. The exact program order with all concert dates and ensembles is published at ulm.de/kultur/ulmer-paradekonzerte/programm.
