The Trierer Glühwein Kontest is a young but already established format by Trier Olewig Event GbR. 2026 marks the 6th edition – in just a few years, the event has established itself as a culinary highlight at the transition from autumn to Advent in the Trier region.
The venue is the Blesius Garten Trier in the Olewig district. The location features stylish indoor and outdoor areas, ideal for the mulled wine contest: a curated mix of modern elegance and tradition.
The focus is on the competition for the best mulled wine in the region. Participating vintners and restaurateurs present their mulled wine creations, which differ in wine base (Riesling, Spätburgunder, Elbling, etc.), spice blend (classic or experimental), sweetness, and style. Guests taste the entries and vote. The format combines serious sensory evaluation with the convivial atmosphere of an Advent evening.
