The Trier Museum Night is part of the nationwide network “Lange Nacht der Museen" (Long Night of Museums) and has been one of Trier's well-attended late-summer cultural events since its establishment in 2008. With a combined ticket, visitors gain access to all five participating museums and can visit them in any order. A central element of the Museum Night is the special program offered by each venue: special guided tours, curatorial insights into normally inaccessible collection areas, concerts, readings, performances, and culinary stations.

The participating venues offer diverse profiles: The Rheinisches Landesmuseum is the major Trier provincial museum focusing on Roman antiquity (one of the world's most significant collections of Roman finds); the Stadtmuseum Simeonstift documents Trier's city history; the Museum am Dom showcases sacred art and religious city history; the Karl-Marx-Haus, the philosopher's birthplace, is a focal point of Trier's political history; the Schatzkammer houses liturgical treasures and relics of Trier Cathedral.
