Tractor Pulling, Northern German Style
The Trecker-Treck Visselhövede is the Lower Saxony version of the internationally popular Tractor Pulling competition. Heavy tractors pull a brake sled (pulling sled) over a set distance. Whoever goes the furthest wins the class. The competition is as spectacular for spectators as it is technically demanding for drivers and machines.
Several Classes
The event includes several classes, categorized by the weight and engine power of the tractors. The field ranges from small standard tractors from the 1960s to highly tuned modern machines with supercharged diesel engines. Participants come from the entire northern German Tractor Pulling scene.
Exhibition of Historic Tractors
In addition to the competition, an exhibition of historic tractors is presented. Lanz Bulldog, Eicher, Hanomag, Deutz, and other classics of agricultural history are on display. Enthusiasts exchange knowledge, while visitors discover the mechanical beauty of the predecessors to modern large tractors.
Family Program and Catering
Despite the high-horsepower main program, the Trecker-Treck is a decidedly family-friendly event. There is a special program for children with pedal tractor races, a bouncy castle, and small hands-on activities. Snack stands offer bratwurst, fries, drinks, and sweets. A beer stand and cocktail bar cater to the adults.
Organization by Team Nindorf
The Trecker-Treck Team Nindorf e.V. has been organizing the competition voluntarily for years. What started as a local gathering of tractor-enthusiast farmers and mechanics has grown over the years into a significant event attracting several thousand visitors. Sponsors from the region contribute to the financing.
